For Children Entering Gr. K-4 in Fall 2021

SUMMER FUN CAMP IS ONLY OPEN TO AVON RESIDENTS!

Summer Fun Camp consists of eight one-week sessions Monday - Friday*, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Extended care option is available from 3-4 p.m. for an additional fee.

Session 1 - Space Exploration
Session 2 - Red, White and Blue 
Session 3* - Wild West (4 day camp: Tues-Fri)

Come join us for exciting themed adventures this summer! Go to camp with your Avon friends.  Each session of camp there will be s
mall group activities with your age group. When it is really hot we have the benefit of air conditioning for fun indoor activities.


Campers will participate in crafts, games, outdoor activities, swimming and movies, plus there will be special entertainment each week.

Campers must bring a lunch, snacks, water bottle, spray sun block, a face sun block stick, swim suit and towel each day. Lunches must be in an insulated bag with a cool pack as lunches will not be refrigerate. Please make sure all items are clearly labeled with the campers name. Electronic devices are not permitted - leave them home.

Swimming 3-4 days per week (weather permitting) at Sycamore Hills Pool. Swimming is fully supervised by our ARC certified lifeguards.

Participants can sign up for one week at a time or for all eight sessions.   Min. 35: Max. 50.

The Registration deadline for Summer Day Camps is the THURSDAY prior to the start of the session. Anyone registering after the Thursday deadline, will be charged the full amount plus a $25 late fee.

Please note that, many times, the registration fills up prior to the Thursday deadline. If this happens, you will need to complete the registration to place your child on the wait list. Wait lists will be evaluated by the end of the week to see if anyone can be moved into the camp. You will be notified only if there is room and payment will be required at that time.

Program fees will not be pro-rated for any reason.

The Recreation Department reserves the right to change or re-schedule entertainment due to unforeseen circumstances and to change the maximums on programs as necessary.

During the COVID-19 situation, The Avon Recreation and Parks Department continues to follow the guidance of Federal, State, and Local Agencies. Guidance for youth camps has come from the Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and the Farmington Valley Health District. Parents will also receive an email with the Camp Newsletter the Friday prior to the Camp start date. Please read this newsletter as it will provide the schedule for the week and important information. 


SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS POLICY

The Avon Recreation and Parks Department welcomes persons with disabilities in all programs and services. If you require reasonable accommodations to a recreation program in order to participate, please indicate this when you register under the "medical conditions" section of your account and call the Recreation and Parks Department at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the program at 860-409-4332.

MEDICAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS -
Please indicate when you register your child if they have any Allergy/Medical information.  Remember we are not part of Avon Public Schools and do not have access to your child's medical records or their medications. If you would like our staff to hold medication for your child (Epi Pen, inhalers), please email our office and make arrangements for a med plan to be put in place. Our staff is trained in First Aid/CPR, and Epi Pen administration at our Summer Camp programs.


PARA-PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT - Support staff will only be available from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for our summer camp programs. Support for extended day programs will not be available.

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE - Campers needing special assistance may be limited to the amount of programs they can attend dependent upon the demand for support services and staff availability. This policy will ensure that everyone who wants to participate will have an opportunity to take part in integrated, fun programs.


Session 5 - Mythical Monsters
  • Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Extended day hours are listed below).
  • Camp is held at Pine Grove School.
  • The entertainment for this session is a Laser Tag Adventure
  • Campers must provide their own lunch and transportation to and from camp.
  • There is a $20 camp discount for 3 or more children in the same family.

Extended Day Program -
Extended care is available from 3-4 pm for an additional fee.

Children must be picked up promptly at 4:00 p.m.

Fee for extended day is $25.00 PER option.

Late pick ups for camp or extended day are subject to a $15 late fee if you are 15 or more minutes late in picking up your child(ren).
