Opened in 1899, The Bronx Zoo is the flagship of the largest network of metropolitan zoos in the country. It is the heart of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
The Bronx Zoo is the largest metropolitan zoo in the world and the largest in North America—with some 6,000 animals representing about 650 species from around the world. The Zoo comprises 265 acres of park land and naturalistic habitats, through which the Bronx River flows.
There is no other zoo in the world that offers the diversity and superb viewing that you will find here.
