During the COVID-19 situation, The Avon Recreation and Parks Department continues to follow the guidance of Federal, State, and Local Agencies. Guidance for youth camps has come from the Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and the Farmington Valley Health District. Here is a link to the Avon Recreation and Parks Department Camp Plan for Operating During COVID-19

Go to camp with your friends; sign up for one week or more. Summer Fun Camp is for Avon residents only, and consists of seven, one-week sessions.

Summer Fun Camp has been restructured in accordance with the OEC guidelines. Camp will run from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  We will not be offering Before and After Care this summer.

Recognizing the different Phases of Reopening throughout the summer, we have plans in place that deliver fun and safe activities and are prepared to be flexible.  When camp starts we anticipate that the state will be in Phase 2. At this time, there are no field trips or entertainers scheduled. We will re-evaluate this as the summer unfolds. We will keep everyone updated via emails of any changes.

Important information is provided in our Summer Fun Camp 2020 Parent Handbook link located below.

Weather permitting campers will swim at Sycamore Hills Pools 2-3 times a week from 11:15 AM12:00 PM, before the pool is open to the public. Swimming is fully supervised by our ARC certified lifeguards.

Campers will participate in crafts, games, outdoor activities, swimming and movies.
Campers must have a backpack, and an insulated lunch bag with a cool pack in it. Lunches will not be put in a refrigerator to keep them separated. Campers must bring a lunch, snacks, water, spray sunblock and a face sunblock stick, swim suit and towel. Everything should be labeled with the camper’s name.

Parents will register their child into the group for the grade their child is going into in the fall of 2020. To place your child on a wait list, you will need to complete the registration. The wait lists will be monitored by the end of the week. If your child can be moved into the camp, you will be notified and payment will be required at that time. Registration closes the Thursday prior to the start of the next session.
