For Children entering Gr. 5-9 in Fall 2021

ADVENTURE CAMP IS ONLY OPEN TO AVON RESIDENTS!

Adventure Camp will run for six, one-week sessions. This session will run Tuesday - Friday. Campers will have a different adventure every day.

Adventure Camp pick up and drop off will be at Sycamore Hills Pool. Camp runs from 8:45 AM - 4:00 PM Monday – Thursday (occasionally, earlier/later if needed).  Sign-in is 8:45 AM, unless notified otherwise – Please be on time. There are no extended care options.  The cost is $280 per session.  There is a maximum of 25 participants.  The ratio of staff to camp is 1:10. In the event of inclement weather for the day, drop off and pickup will be at Countryside Park, located at 335 Huckleberry Hill Rd., Avon.  You will be notified via email by 8 a.m. if the camp will be at Countryside that day.

 
Campers should bring the following items each day:
(All items should be labeled with the camper's name.)

1. A backpack
2. A lunch, (unless otherwise noted).
3. Snacks, a refillable water bottle 
3. Sunscreen
4. Bathing suit, towel and change of clothes
5. Sweatshirt
6. Rain gear

Electronic devices are permitted for emergency use only.

The registration deadline for Adventure Camps is the WEDNESDAY prior to the start of the session. If space is available, anyone registering after the Wednesday deadline, will be charged the full amount plus a $25 late fee. Please note, that many times, the program will fill up prior to the Wednesday deadline.  If this happens, you will need to complete the registration to place your child on the waiting list. The system will not require payment to put a child on the wait list.  Waiting lists will be evaluated by the end of the week to see if anyone can be moved from the wait list into the camp. You will be notified only if there is room and payment will be required at that time. Program fees will not be pro-rated for any reason.

The Recreation Department reserves the right to change or reschedule trips due to unforseen circumstances and to change the maximums on programs as necessary.

Please take the time to read through the handbook. Parents will also receive an email with a cover letter, an Itinerary and Packing List the Friday prior to the camp start date. Please read through this information very carefully as it will provide important information on waivers that need to be completed and everything your child will need for each day of camp.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS POLICY

The Avon Recreation and Parks Department welcomes persons with disabilities in all programs and services. If your child requires reasonable accommodations to a recreation program in order to participate, please indicate this when you register under the "Medical Information" section on your account and call the Recreation and Parks Department at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the program at 860-409-4332. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. If you need to complete a Medical Plan, the form is listed below.  Please be aware that if you fail or chose not to notify us of any issues that require accommodations, it may delay or inhibit your child from participating in the program.

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS:

MEDICAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS - Please indicate when you register your child if they have any Allergy/Medical information. Remember we are not part of Avon Public Schools and do not have access to your child's medical records or their medications. If you would like our staff to hold medication for your child (Epi-pen, inhalers), please email our office and make arrangements for a med plan to be put in place. Our staff is trained in First Aid/CPR and Epi Pen administration at our Summer Camp programs.

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE - Campers needing special assistance may be limited to the amount of programs they can attend dependent upon the demand for support services and staff availability. This policy will ensure that everyone who wants to participate will have an opportunity to take part in integrated, fun programs.



General Information
Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Camp drop off and pick up is Sycamore Hills Recreation Area, 635 West Avon Road, Avon.

Field Trip cost is included in the camp fee.

Lake Compounce
The Maritime Aquarium


Parents must provide campers transportation to and from camp.

There is a $20 camp discount for 3 or more children in the same family.
