     Fall HikingHikingFall Hiking   Group Hiking for Adults!

Discover Avon's hiking trails by joining leaders Tom and Norm for a stress-free group hike every month! This hiking group is the perfect opportunity to explore/learn about Avon’s parks & hiking trails, advance your hiking skills, and hike with great company. All levels are welcome. See the difficulty level in the hike details below.  

Registration is required: Register online at avonct.myrec.com to receive emails on hike details and updates. 


Fall Hiking Locations:

1. Saturday, August 26.  Hike up Avon Mountain through Hazen Park to the Heublein Tower to attend the 9th Annual "Hike to the Mic" music and arts happening (https://hiketothemic.com/).  Led by the Avon Land Trust. Moderately Difficult.

2. Saturday, October 7. Found Land Recreation Area.  Easy.

3. Saturday, November 4. Explore Avon roots on the Farmington Canal Yellow-blazed loop with historian Carl Walter. Co-sponsored by the Avon Historical Society. Moderately Difficult.

Tips and Information
- An e-mail notification will be sent by 7:15 AM the day of the hike if a hike is cancelled due to bad weather. A make-up date will also be announced.
- Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy sneakers or hiking boots if you have them. Hiking poles are encouraged. Bring water.
- When parking on a public street, always park on the same side of the road.
- All hikes start at 10:00 AM. Arrive at 9:45 AM for a prompt start.
- Call Tom at 860.856.1753 or Norm at 860.539.9335 if you have questions day of the hike.
- Call the Recreation Office at 860.409.4332 with all other questions.
